Mr. James E. Desprez

Mr. James E. Desprez, 78, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Hospice Savannah Inc.

He was born on July 17, 1927 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Emma and Marcel Desprez. After serving in the Navy during World War II he graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He later received a Masters in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. He retired from American Cyanamid in 1983. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Emma and Marcel Desprez and the love of his life for fifty years, Martha R. Chory.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Betty and Ronnie Blanton of Shelby, NC, Michael Desprez of Savannah, Robert and Bonnie Desprez and Richard and Nancy Desprez all of Tyrone, GA, Jean and Tim Jackson of Savannah; sixteen grandchildren, Coree Blanton, Marlene Brendan Sheppard, Michelle Marvin Ignacio, Jessica Desprez, Melissa Desprez, Daniel Jacque Desprez, Steven, Dylan and Rene Desprez, Emily, David, Kevin and Jeremy Desprez, Tim Jr. Amy Jackson, Christina Dennis Turner and Trey Jackson; nine great grandchildren, Madeline and Collin Sheppard, Elijah and Elsie Ignacio, Lauren and Danny Desprez, Katelyn Jackson and Christopher and Garret Turner; his goddaughter Kathleen Farquhar and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Mark Taylor, MD for his outstanding care and concern and to the staff at Hospice Savannah Inc.

Visitation will be Monday June 19, 2006 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Islands Chapel with a Christian Wake Service at 6:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 20, 2006 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 7020 Concord Road, Savannah, GA 31410 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
